Introductions

I'll start off with an introduction. I am a new paramedic (almost 2 years in) as well as a dispatcher for a busy emergency coordination centre in BC Canada. I'm a 22 year old female trying to juggle 2 jobs, a relationship and somehow a social life. I'll start with explaining my job as a paramedic. Here in BC we are called Paramedics even though my skills/scope of practice is that of an EMT. I work out of a fairly rural station with the closest hospital and ALS crew about 30 minutes away. My newest job which I started in June of this year is in the provincial emergency coordination centre where we dispatch and take calls for several different government agencies. We handle calls for the Ministry of Environment, Protection Order Registry, Search and Rescue, provincial emergencies and natural disasters are among our busiest phone lines.
Between my two jobs I seem to be the person to get the most ridiculous calls. Those really strange EMS calls and the most ridiculous calls in the ECC all seem to happen when I'm working. I get those calls that have me saying "You're kidding right?" on a regular basis. Hope you enjoy.
